Zebrawood - steambent shell

Just finished this snare up last weekend. It's built up on a 7 x 14 steambent Zebrawood single ply shell from Vaughncraft Percussion. I bought it as a "second" for a good price, so it had a few surface checks (exotics such as zebrawood appear to be challenging candidates for steambending, according to my research), but I was able to sand them out pretty well, and finished it with a few coats of shellac. Hoops and claws are from Drum Factory Direct - these hoops may be more "for show", and for playing they may be switched out to hide-a-heads or diecast rims. The lugs are solid brass, from Champagne Drums of Winnipeg. I thought I'd try out the DW mag throwoff and buttplate combination, and I like it.
UPDATE June 12.11 - sold this beauty.
