I picked up this Pearl maple snare (8 ply, dating from the 1980's) for a very good price and decided that the old silverish wrap was pretty boring. Hardware was still in great shape. Decided to see how the bare shell would look with a stain and clear cover coat (shellac). I'm pretty happy with how it turned out ...
